Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What are your clinic hours?
A: We are open every Thursday evening from 5:30 to 7:00pm for the weekly medical clinic and the second and fourth Monday evenings from 5:30 to 6:00pm for the fluoride varnish treatments. We are available for insurance navigation services by appointment, just call us at (218) 365-5678 or email us at director@elycommunityhealth.org.

Q: How do I get to the Ely Community Health Center?
A: Our clinic is located at 111 So. 4th Ave. East in Ely MN.

Q: What time should I get there, and where should I go when I arrive?
A: The clinic doors are open at 5:15 pm. Enter through the front door and check in at the reception desk.

Q: Can I make an appointment?
A: No appointments are necessary. We see patients in the order they arrive. We will stay until all patients have been seen.

Q: How long will my appointment take?

A: Your appointment time will vary, depending on why you are visiting us. It could be as short as 15 minutes. You might be there longer if you need more complicated assistance. For the fluoride varnish treatments the treatment takes usually five minutes so you will be in and out quickly.

Q: Will my clinic visit cost me anything?
A: No. Your visit is free.

Q: Do I need to have insurance?
A: No. We will ask you for an insurance card if you have one only so we can keep track of how many people we see with insurance and how many we see without.

Q:What should I bring with me?
A: Bring a picture identification card. If you have an insurance card, please bring that. If you are taking any medications or supplements, please bring a list with exact names and dosages. If possible, bring the actual prescription bottles with you.

Q: What is a specialty referral?
A: A specialty referral is a referral to another provider or organization who can better help you with your problem. It might not be a medical provider. We can help with a number of problems.

Q: What if I need prescription medications?
A: We can assist you in finding a place to get your prescription filled (or refilled).

Q: How can I help?
A: We can always use help at the clinic. You can give us a donation (money) or help us by volunteering. We can find a way for you to help, even if you can only volunteer one time! A medical background is not necessary for our volunteers.

Q: Are my contributions tax deductible?
A: Yes. The Ely Community Health Center is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Q: I don't see the information I am looking for here. Who can I contact?
A: If you still have questions we would love to hear from you. You can contact us through the form on our website, send us an email, or give us a call at the office.
