EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION
The Ely Community Health Center (ECHC) in Ely provides basic, health care at no cost to those who are uninsured or underinsured in the Ely area. Our clinic is located at 111 So. 4th Ave. East and is open every Monday evening from 5:30-7:00.
Our mission is to provide affordable services with a vision to improve community health. Our hope is that all people will have access to health care.
The ECHC is seeking currently seeking an individual to serve as interim executive director.

I. POSITION TITLE:
- Executive Director
- The Executive Director will be responsible for the operations, staffing, and administration of The Ely Community Health Center. The overall organization and operation of The Ely Community Health Center, its staff, and functions are under the direction of the Executive Director, as delegated by the Board of Directors.
- The Executive Director is accountable to and receives direction from the Board of Directors.
Administrative:
- Recruit volunteers and provide for their orientation, training and supervision.
- Ensure professional staff and volunteers have appropriate licensure and malpractice insurance.
- Reapply annually to the state program which provides malpractice insurance for volunteer RN's or LPN's who need such coverage.
- Maintain administrative and statistical reports on all aspects of the ECHC.
- *Prepare and maintain budgets, all necessary financial reporting, and assure that ECHC utilizes general acceptable accounting practices (GAAP).
- *Write grants and secure other funds to help assure ECHC has a sound financial base and can grow as necessary.
- Function and administer ECHC under Personnel Policies, fiscal policies and other policies and procedures as adopted by the board of directors.
- Organize, plan, supervise, coordinate and assign work to ECHC staff and volunteers.

General duties:
- Manage ECHC in line with the established goals, aims and objectives expressed by the board.
- Purchase equipment and supplies as needed and in accordance with adopted policies and procedures.
- Maintain the ECHC physical site and make adjustments as appropriate to ensure the safety of staff and patients.
- Implement established board policies in the operation of ECHC.
- Attend Board of Director Meetings and provide monthly reports and input into decisions affecting ECHC and staff and patients.
- Prepare an annual Executive summary.
- Attend monthly Community Care Team meetings and monthly Behavioral Health Network meetings (attendance may be shared with the Medical Directors).
- Communicate with the Board Chair between meetings, as appropriate, regarding developments, policy changes or other information of significance.
- Work with the medical Directors to ensure quality programs and services are provided.
Other specific tasks:
- Maintain the weekly volunteer schedule in areas of reception, triage, checkout and cleaning.
- Communicate regularly with volunteers
- Solicit additional help when needed
- Communicate regularly with the medical directors. This includes any patient follow up, including communications by telephone, answering machine, email, and fax regularly. Questions and lab or imaging results should be brought to the attention of the medical directors.
- Maintain a registry for insurance navigation and communicate with navigators.
- Check post office box and sort mail
- Communicate with the treasurer and board regarding finances
- Other tasks as needed which may include helping to develop training materials, attending community events, contributing to newsletters and other public communications, and assisting with fundraising events
- Strong administrative and management skills
- Strong communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to be self-motivated and take on responsibility
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to exercise sound leadership and judgment.
- Grant writing is desired for a permanent position but not for the interim position
